MONDAY 9th September 2013 from 11.to 12.30: Butoh practice at Exchange Dublin

Very pleased to let you know that butoh practice is back on!
11 to 12.30 at Exchange Dublin- Lower Exchange St. Temple Bar
HOW TO GET THERE:
From the Project theatre in temple bar on Essex St. keep going straight cross Parliament St, keep going straight, pass the Check Pub and the Turk's Head, and there you are at the corner large window.

Let's start the week together indulging in exploring all possibilities through our dance.
Everything can transform us and we can transform everything....so let us feel what that means by walking slowly and encountering our layers, by being moved by wings in our hands and sand in our spine.

first part:
gentle warm up: listening to our body, slowness, understand different substances in our body e.g. linfatic system blood stream
Second part: develop further the movements of the warm up through visualisation
Final part: impro with visualisations

MORNING BUTOH PRACTICE: From the 8th of September 2013

Hello everyone!

I am running Butoh practice classes twice a week at Exchange.
The class runs from 11 am to 12.30pm.
The cost is 12 Euro per class or 50 Euro for 5 classes.


The classes aim to introduce Butoh practice from both dance and theatre aspects.
The class material will cover the following:
- warm up
- improvisations
- learning how to have a multitude of activities going on: "eyes like blossoming roses, you are walking in the desert and your heart is the sun" These might read odd but the aim is that of using internal bodies and target images and scenarios aid the acquisition of internal body movements.
- dance with one's own poetics
- explore the feeling of in-betweens and oppositions: dream and body, outside inside, slow-fast, breath and sweat.


The money gained from the classes goes partly as an ongoing fund-raising for the Butoh Festival, partly to Exchange, and the remaining to me.

This is a DIY-Festival without funding, but with generous pledges to pay the theatre rent from

 funders in Ireland, UK, USA and Germany! 

We are organizing the festival out of passion and in our spare time, covering all costs 

(artists flights, accommodation, workshop fees) through ticket sales.

We'd love to see you in the audience and workshops!

SHED in Galway on the 8th of August 2013 - Galway Dance Project and Kitchen Collective

Galway Dance Project says: "Well done and thank you to Berni, Elise, Elodie and Judith for a beautiful sharing of your exploration of Butoh this evening. Thank you to everyone who came (over 65 people in attendance!) but a really special thank you to Ambra for your generosity and genius. A lovely evening". 

In July I was invited by Galway Dance Project to give two slots of workshops, one of which geared towards the building of a performance.

The first workshop was based on concentrating on foundation exercises following with the same engaged in the process of evocation, imagination and exploration of "becoming rose" "dancing rose".

The workshop saw more than 10 participants that remarkably dived into the practice!

The second workshop was an intensive 3days in which a smaller group developed the theme of "shed" "shedding". This also due to the fact that the 25mins performance was being held in the Shed (Kitchen Collective) in Galway.

The performance was a success, Berni, Elise, Elodie and Judith really engaged with the practice rigorously bringing to the audience the rawness and vulnerability of their own unique dance.

I take this opportunity to thank Galway Dance Project, Lisa Hallinan and the Kitchen Collective for having me there and for making Shed happen.
